Mallow and Monkeyflower at Laguna Coast Wilderness Park

Today, the Bush Mallow and Monkeyflower are bursting with blooms, a spectacular sight. Come out and visit Laguna Coast Wilderness Park this Memorial Day!

Large pink flowers open along the many branches of the Bush Mallow. Although Bush Mallow and Monkeyflower win in terms of blooming opulence, you can find many plants blooming in the nooks and crannies created by grasses, shrubs, rocks, and trails. Students in need of 40 flower photos for their science project satisfied their needs on Mary's Trail alone!

Isn't this a beauty?

For photographs and names of this and many of our other May bloomers, check our photo gallery for May at: http://lauraatlcwp.smugmuc.com/Nature/Flowers/May-Wildflowers-2011 You may want to look back at the February, March, and April photos, as some of these plants just keep on flowering!
